Amy Kimball has been a leader in the field of Research Administration for over a decade, and has an extensive background in pre- and post-award management, research operations, compliance, and HR functions within the biomedical research environment. She has managed several large and complex sponsored research portfolios in support of basic, translational, and clinical research programs, and has worked with a variety of federal and non-federal sponsors. She began her career in Research Administration at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, where she helped establish and grow the Center for Vascular Biology Research (CVBR), in addition to managing the pre- and post-award activity of the Department of Pathology. She later became the Director of Administration & Finance and institutional Signing Official for the Molecular Oncology Research Institute (MORI) at Tufts Medical Center, where she led many institutional initiatives and improvements, and drove a 40% increase in faculty size and revenue. Most recently, she served as Signing Official for Tufts University's central Office of Research Administration, managing a large and diverse pre-award portfolio in support of the university's biomedical and nutrition research programs. She grew up in Massachusetts, attended college at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH, and following graduation, returned to Boston where she and her husband live.
